About Me

Hi I'm Jen, a thirty something year old who graduated from the University of Michigan with my masters of public health in Epidemiology and International Health. I started this little space of mine 5 years ago when I first came to Kenya to work on my thesis as a way to share with my family and friends the everyday life and adventures of living and working in a developing country.

Four years ago I went back to Kisumu, Kenya to work with the CDC on an encephalitis and meningitis surveillance project. Life has changed a little bit since 2010.  Josh and I got engaged, married and left the beautiful place we called home for two years.  The Army sent us to North Carolina and we welcomed our little girl, Mara, on September 30, 2013. Now we're embarking on a new adventure in the Republic of Georgia as the military once again sends us overseas.  We also welcomed our second child, Madeline, on January, 6, 2016! Bast girl #3 is due to arive December 2017!

This is a record of our experiences as we continue this adventure that is our life.  The "Bast" life!
