Mara-2 Weeks

Where has the time gone?!  I can't believe my little girl is already two weeks old.  I feel like it was just yesterday we were in the hospital.

Weight:  You weighed 7 lbs 1 oz last week.  We were so proud of you putting on a half a pound in TWO days.  Really showed those doctors!  My guess is you've put on a little more since then but we don't have a scale at home to weigh you on.

Health:  You're doing great.  You did have a slight infection in your left eye but a little breastmilk in there seemed to clear it right up.  Thanks Auntie Aimee for the suggestion!  I don't think it has to do with mamma's milk but you are spitting up a lot and have had a few incidents of projectile vomiting.  I think you just get really excited and drink too fast.  We're going to work on it.

Social:  You're finally at the stage where you have a few awake periods throughout the day.  Daddy and I are loving talking to you and watching you just look around.  I know you can't see everything clearly but you love to look.

Diet: Strictly breastmilk!  Mamma was a little worried as you didn't want to take from the right side but we found that if we do the football hold on that side you latch right on.

Clothes: Newborn but you are getting a tad long for some of your sleepers.  It breaks mommy's heart to see you grow out of these clothes.  I'm not attached but it just means my little cuddly newborn is quickly disappearing.  You are still in newborn diapers too.  Momma and Daddy aren't ready to start cloth (and you're still too small) yet.  We may have to break into the size 1 Pampers here shortly.

Mama’s Favorites:  I love the little grins you give when you are falling asleep.  I also love your snorts when you're getting latched on to eat.  Right now we're just loving looking at you!

Crying:  Just when you're hungry!  Otherwise you're either wide awake and alert or sleeping.

You love to sleep with your hand by your face

Sleep:  Right now its hit or miss.  At night you've been slowly increasing your sleep time.  We are up to two hours minimum between feedings from the 45 minutes we started with.  Last night you went three hours between one and it was music to momma's ears.  

This Week:  It was our last week with daddy at home on his leave.  I am so thankful that we've had this time together and am not looking forward to him going back to work.  We've also ran errands, attended our baby shower at church, gone out to eat twice and went shopping.  You did so well!

Two weeks today!

Baby Likes:  Nursing, the swing, sleeping in daddy's or mommy's arms, the Moby wrap

Milestones:  Your umbilical cord stump fell off at about 1.5 weeks.  You have the cutest innie!  Mommy and daddy are still waiting for it to fully heal before you get your first real bath.  You still have awesome head support for your age.  You push off our chests with your arms and arc your back to get a better look at your surroundings.

Best of times:  We are still just so in love and thankful that you are here with us.  We love looking at your little face and trying to place where you got your nose, ears, mouth, etc.  

Worst of times:  Last night we had a rough night.  Momma didn't grab you fast enough and you were quite angry and hungry.  You ripped off your diaper when dad went to change you and had a massive blowout after you nursed.  To top it off you nursed so fast that you vomited not once but twice all over yourself and mommy.  After a few hours of nursing and cuddles you finally fell asleep.
